ABOUT THE ARTIST
LEE Pui Ying, Hiya (b.2000), is a Hong Kong artist who dedicated to transforming music into abstraction and creating from real emotions.
Lee studied classical music since childhood, but gradually lost his interest in piano as she grew up, and even gave up completely at one time. When she was in the art school, she re-experienced the beauty of music, now learning the violin and composing her own music. Determined to live with music in an artistic way.
Lee's inspiration comes from classical music or sound, natural environment and personal psychology. She responded to these events with her own emotions and honestly reflected them on the canvas with her unique abstract pattern marks and structures.
Lee’s work is the feedback of thoughts and emotions. It transforms thoughts into smooth and strong traces of painting, thus creating abstract vision. Her work reflects a holistic thought, which usually contains only one or a few elements. Linked her soul and body, and created some new things.
Lee works while playing music in the studio, and refer to her own images (such as prints and photos) and self-composed music as supplementary materials. She tried to transform emotions into visual language. As a composer and performer, she composes music and creates unique visual effects on the canvas. By depicting the narrative and power of music, and expressing the rhythm of action, the depth and dimension of emotion on the canvas. For her, painting and music are both derived from the same essence of "temporal" language. The painting itself is also a visual music experience for the audience.
